Adapting Succeeding and Leading During Change

Charles Darwin famously said “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change”.

The pace of change in our world has never been faster and managing change well is essential to the success of any organisation. While there are some excellent change models and frameworks that can really help to shape and guide the change processes within organisations, something that can often be less well managed and understood is the notion of transitions.

Organisations spend huge time and resources managing change, yet so many change initiatives fail to deliver. Because the fact is that organisations don't just change because of new systems, processes or structures. They change when the people within the organisation adapt and change too. It’s only when people have made their own personal transitions that an organisation can truly reap the benefits of change. If we don’t support the transitions, the best planned change strategy can fail.

When managing change, organisations usually focus on the desired outcomes that the change will produce from an external perspective instead of the individuals who are essential to supporting and leading the change from an internal perspective. We need to facilitate these transitions and understand personal responses in order for change to be successful.

In Prism, we work with clients to effectively manage change and transition in their organisations and help them to identify and leverage the challenges and opportunities that arise from these.
